Above the Art-Deco main entrance of Selfridges, there is a statue of the Queen of Time riding in her Ship of Commerce. It was created by British artist Gilbert Bayes. 
The American millionaire entrepreneur, Gordon Selfridge, built Selfridges the iconic London department store in 1909 . On the opening day over 90,000 people traveled to London to shop there.
